Standing Up

“Standing Up” is a short film written by Dan Gorham which he co-produced and directed with Brian Gravel of DivergingSoul. The film was an Official Selection of the 2013 Boston International Film Festival, and is scheduled to screen alongside “Sweet Talk” at the Loews Theatre/AMC Boston Common on Monday, April 15th, at 8:30pm.

The script won the Third Prize at the Las Vegas Short Script Awards (now Vegas CineFest), as well as being a semi-finalist at both The Movie Deal Screenplay Contest and The Golden Brad Awards, and 1st & 2nd round qualifier at the American Gem Literary Festival. It stars Randy Marquis (Ghosts, The Death of Abraham Lincoln), Zele Avradopoulos (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) and Ted Arcidi (The Town, The Fighter, Nurse Jackie, 30 Rock). Score by Donald R. Patten.

Synopsis

Desperate to try stand-up comedy, a young man plagued with stage fright decides it’s time to conquer doubt and stop his greatest fear from stifling his life-long dream. His decision and ultimate debut send him on a journey toward an enlightening realization he had never before comprehended.
